Sunday’s Wisdom #64: Those Without Swords…

“Those without swords can still die upon them.”
– Eowyn, The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers

In fact, it’s usually much easier for someone to die on a sword when they don’t have one. Even if they don’t know how to use a sword, simply having one makes it just a teensy bit for difficult for someone to kill them. Best of all, however, is having a sword and being competent with it. That, however, is an active choice of lifestyle, and one that’s not always easy. But one doesn’t need to love being armed, or love the weapon, or love having more power to kill. One simply needs to understand a single, simple truth:

Being unarmed has never helped anyone survive.

And a second truth, attached to the first:

The better armed you are, the better your chances.

If this is in any way unclear, I oppose gun control, because those without guns can still be shot.
